Savvy businesses implement technological tools that assist the organization in performing at peak productivity for immediate impact, but they also plan for the future. When purchasing communication technology it is critical to consider its reliability, flexibility and redundancy capabilities in order to safeguard the business from potential threats, whether it’s a network outage, or natural disaster. From hardware to software, across the entire network, Clearspan provides a proven approach to overall system availability and business continuity.
Start With Reliable Components Over and above creating a redundant network, it is critical to have reliable network components that can consistently accommodate the level of service they are required to support. Clearspan servers are certified to Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) mission-critical standards offering carrier-grade, five nine’s reliability. It simply doesn’t get better than that.
On board each Clearspan server is a system controller that monitors the health of the system and keeps its process up and running. Internally, each process contains a “watch-dog” thread to keep all subsystems alive and functioning in order to minimize service interruptions. Since the system continually audits and provides a detailed alert if there is an issue, should a software failure occur, it would usually result in a maximum of one call lost. Maximum Flexibility With Clearspan, the enterprise has maximum flexibility with regards to their business communication extending from the network level (IP and/or PSTN) to the user level allowing employees the ability to use a variety of communication devices such as regular phones, cell phones, IP phones and soft phones. This flexibility allows for an unprecedented level of disaster tolerance. If the IP network was disrupted, business communication could still take place via the PSTN or wireless phones. Even in a worst-case scenario where employees could not access the company’s physical location, Clearspan provides remote survivability where communication could occur and business could be conducted remotely. Peace of mind prevails with Clearspan.
Automated Data Replication Clearspan utilizes database replication technology to keep data in sync across servers in the network regardless of where they are geographically located. Also in place is a proven technology called “Dynamic User Hosting”, where a user’s endpoint binds to any appropriate Application Server in the network. Once the endpoint has connected to Clearspan, the rest of the network discovers which Application Server is hosting the associated user’s services through the Network Server and all subsequent user transactions are sent to that particular Server. These critical features in conjunction with local and/or geographic redundancy provide any enterprise the ability to conduct business as usual regardless of what may be happening around them.
Redundancy Clearspan provides maximum flexibility and incredible depth when it comes to deploying a disaster tolerant system. Those who require local redundancy can deploy the system in a Single Data Center configuration where redundant servers are housed in the same physical location. For maximum protection, a Mirrored Data Center configuration can be deployed where servers are geographically separated. Although the servers are installed across two physically separate sites, they are still managed as one logical system – configuration and provisioning changes are automatically replicated between data centers as mentioned above.
Clearspan also offers redundancy of each core server (Network, Application, Media & Conferencing) and within each core server, signaling interface redundancy.
