Dallas, TX, July 30, 2007 — Aastra Intecom today introduces Clearspan™, a new Unified Communications solution based on state-of-the-art design, open industry standards and proven carrier-grade technology for large and very large enterprises.  The value proposition for Clearspan is quite simple: provide a rich, easy to use communications environment across all the devices users encounter and architect it to the most stringent professional standards for openness, performance, scalability and reliability.

Aastra Intecom launches Clearspan in the US and Canada for enterprises that require VoIP in a mission-critical environment.  Expanding on the announcement of its alliance with BroadSoft last week, Clearspan will give enterprises access to familiar PBX calling features plus advanced Unified Communications features, such as Microsoft Outlook and Office Communicator integration, click-to-call dialing, simultaneous ring, and the extension of VoIP services to mobile devices.  Clearspan also offers the most extensive and complete portfolio of standards-based IP telephone products in the marketplace today, including a highly scalable and flexible SIP-DECT solution well suited for high-quality, secure wireless voice applications. The premises-based platform allows delivery of VoIP applications over multiple types of networks and can be used with enterprises’ existing applications for a complete distributed solution.

Clearspan leverages the 28 years of large enterprise telecommunications expertise developed by Aastra Intecom to offer a best-in-class leading solution that adopts the best from world class technology providers. Larger organizations can now move to full voice over IP confident that their unique requirements can be completely addressed during design, planning, deployment and long-term operation. The state-of-the-art network model and unique device independence capability result in the highest levels of business continuity with the lowest total cost of ownership available in the industry.

Clearspan was developed from the ground up with a robust feature set and a future-proof architecture designed to flexibly incorporate new standards, technologies and networks with ease.  A simple and logical licensing approach is based on user counts, no matter how many devices are used and a hierarchical administrative model extends management capabilities out into the enterprise enabling departments and users to handle their own day-to-day administration needs.

“Clearspan is a continuation of Aastra’s tradition of delivering high-performance mission-critical solutions to large enterprises,” said Dana A. Call, Executive Vice-President and General Manager, Aastra USA Inc.  “We have a proven commitment to delivering high-value solutions to some of the world’s largest and most demanding customers and we are excited about the ability of this product to deliver immediate benefits without wholesale replacement of existing systems.  Our Self-Paced Migration capability allows enterprises to migrate to full VoIP at their own pace.”
